Feral hogs and nutria should be killed at every opportunity without any remorse.
Very True... I have seen land that was destroyed by feral hogs. We may be losing the war against them. They are bad for darned near every native species they encounter. Funny you mentioned the nutria. I don't know much about them but we were talking at work the other day and a co-worker from Louisiana gave the exploding nutria populations partial credit for the over population of gators "back Home" as he put it. He is from some swamp in Louisiana. He did not think highly of nutria for many reasons.
The Jefferson parish sheriffs office used to use nutria as moving target practice. They would close off roads next to subdivisions at night and spotlight nutria in the canals and pop em. It was not uncommon for them to kill a hundred or so a night. The nutria would dig holes in the sides of the canals causing significant damage. We loved going out to watch but PITA got wind of it and that was the end of that.

WOW! Truly amazing what one simple question can start. Very entertaining, somewhat informative pertaining to the question. I do want to thank you all for the time that was spent digging up the research on turtles. :tiphat:

Oh, and turtles are omnivores. They will eat basically what is available whether it be plants, insects, fish, or fish eggs, etc.. You can buy a license and hunt for turtles, where allowed, legally. And since man is basically killing all the little creatures with pollution the turtles have less to eat and are starving to death. By you shooting these turtles you are actually helping them and the environment. You're a saint. Use buckshot. I still recommend the stew/soup.

I've had a hatred for squirrels since they destroyed my first gardening endeavor, aka the Mr. Miyagi Project, by chewing every piece of red cedar I used. My wife believes I'm pathological on the subject and she now refers to squirrels as "Bob".

That the filthy little critters are hoarding bacon comes as no surprise. They have, over the years, taken:
Chevy 15" rallye wheel center cap, Japanese pull saw, H&S garden hand spade, small porcelain garden sculpture, large bronze garden sculpture, pink flamingo head, Japanese rock rake, small garden stone with Japanese character for "peace" inscribed, lit "Opus X" number 5, cap/cork for Glenfiddich 18, Daisy CO2 BB pistol, mint condition 35 year old boonie/gardern hat, lit MonteCristo Afrique Kilimanjaro, tumbler with at least an inch of Dalmore Cigar Malt, a pair of OD green fatigue pants cut off just above the knee, and the list goes on and on.....
