Thank you both for the factual replies. I had no experience other than revolvers and M-16s prior to purchasing the SW40VE so I didn't notice the "quality" of the trigger pull. FWIW it is a LOT better than my son's Kel Tec 9 mil - the pull on that is, IMVHO, ridiculous.
A friend is "holding" a Colt Defender for me (I didn't have the dollars but he did so he bought it and is giving me "first option" on it when I can swing it) but this S&W felt pretty comfortable in my hand and I didn't want to use my .357 for the CHL class so I bought it. I've only fired a maybe a hundred rounds through it and I need a lot of work, but it will do for now.
