There are multiple videos I have seen of three person squads in the streets of China. All in hazmat gear. One with a hand gun, two with automatic rifles. For what purpose I have no idea.

In addition, I have seems videos of a welder, welding shut double steel doors to a building. Another of a worker fastening a beam across a door to a large apartment building.

Here is a key piece of data:

The time between hospital admission and ARDS was as short as 2 days. At this stage, the mortality rate is high for 2019-nCoV, because six (15%) of 41 patients in this cohort died.

Worth noting that you are quoting a 15% mortality from a cohort that was sick enough to go to the hospital. The denominator in that fraction is way smaller than if it had included those who treated themselves at home and did not require hospitalization.

15% mortality among a cohort of 41, where 100% of the population presented with pneumonia is much less scary, although still serious, of course.

So we have always talked about get out bags etc. Here it will be a lock the door and don’t come out for a long time.

Right now here in the US it’s too early. In Wuhan it’s probably too late.

It seems like we have one of these"pandemic" viruses every other year. So far it never actually comes to pass. We always seem to get some kind of vaccine or treatment. Large scale deaths always seem to happen in, less than civilized, countries. It seems like just yesterday that the swine flue was to be the end for us all. About the only people really affected were in the pork industry as people got scared to by pork products. I scored some great buys on pork chops during all that.
