Attended David Gilreath's CHL class for renewal training and proficiency test

03/28/2011 (1 day after completing class)
Mailed applicant paperwork to DPS

04/22/2011 (25 days after mailing paperwork)
Status on the Texas DPS CHL web utility finally changed from "Awaiting materials from applicant" to: "Background Check: Under Review"

04/27/2011 (5 days after last web status change)
Status changed to "Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending"

04/29/2011 (2 days after last web status change)
Concealed Handgun License: Mailed

05/02/2011 (3 days after last web status change)
CHL arrived today via the local mailman. It now resides next to my DL and I'm good to pack heat until August of 2016.

2/12 - Class/Fingerprinting
2/13 - Online application
2/25 - Mailed in paperwork
2/28 - Per USPS, Packaged was received
3/17 - no status update on DPS website yet.
3/26 - Still no status.
4/8 - All Green - Background Check : Under review
4/28 - All Green - Background Check : Under review ??? Contacted DPS but they have no status
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

You 49 day'ers should feel privledged!! When I took, mailed, completed mine it took 184 days and i'm a QS3 from OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM/AFGHANISTAN !!! I wish texas had its crap together when I was in process. Congrats to the newbies, now convince two more good guys to get legal and start packin!!

I thought time only slowed for kids at Christmas time...CHL time warp <sigh>

I will be leaving the Waiting Room. Plastic arrived today. Not gonna make a Wally Walk. Been carrying on my Florida License since I got back from Afghanistan.

40 days from mailbox to mailbox. Not too shabby at all.

Called today and they are quoting 2-3 weeks just for data entry on mailed materials and 60 Days for completion

Well now...The wait is over!!! Just when you expect to ALWAYS see the "Background Check: under review",,,one day, without warning, you see :completed;. Then, Mailed..I know one thing, I will venture back to the "Waiting Room" . From start to finish, 63 days! Seemed like a year! See ya gang!!

Well my status was just updated to materials received and background under review yesterday so now the waiting game begins. Oh, and I wanted to be reply #1000. Lol.

I waited till I got back to Afghanistan to send a copy of my DD214 only to find out that my DD214 is not the long version and I forgot to sign my CHL100. Texas sends the packet back to my house in Dallas, my wife had to send it to me in Afghanistan so I could sign, add $70 to my application and send off AGAIN to DPS. No worries though as the CHL won't do me any good here in Afghanistan.

I went home a few weeks ago and my CHL was waiting on me, pistol in pocket and off to buy holsters. I carried the entire week I was home.

DPS status showing! Fingerprints already submitted. I'm trying to get NICS appeal resolved before taking CHL class. Time for another phone call.

This is my first post but here we go.

My dad gave me the CHL class for Christmas but did not take until Feb. 19, 2011

June 20th turned 21 and did on-line application

June 25th did the L-1 finger printing and mailed in packet.

June 29th they received everything.

June 30th - Pending background check

July 6th - Background complete and sent to manufacturing

July 8th they mailed it.
