I’m calling bull. 1000 shots from a single charge too. I run a laser business so while no expert on Chinese military futuristic weapons I’m at least familiar with laser technology and functionality. 1/2 mile range and 1k shots with a built in battery, I’m doubtful.

That's the part that gets me. To the best of my knowledge, that's not how lasers are measured. They don't have a "caliber". They are measured in watts or some fraction thereof, I believe.

Well, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that Maxim is not exactly my first choice when it comes to learning about weapons and military capability.
Swimsuit models, brands of whiskey and sports cars - sure. But laser weaponry/ Let's just say that their opinion would be suspect.
They claim the weapon can shoot through windows.
Perhaps if the windows are germanium, but regular pane glass blocks IR quite well.
I know because I get reminded of it every time I try to use my IR scope inside and look outside through a window.
As TEX 1961 points out: 1000 shots from a single charge is. . . . unlikely.
File this under Chinese propaganda.

I'm sure the Communist Chinese who murdered 10s of millions of their own citizens and have invaded their neighbors without cause will only use this laser for setting people on fire for appropriate reasons
