Maybe it was not driving that speed and being in constant alert for Smokey.
Slowing down definitely reduces overall gas consumption. I was in the DC area in 1973 during the first Arab oil embargo. A local TV station rented a car and drove from DC to Richmond, VA. One way they drove 70mph and on the return they drove 55mph. Gas consumption was significantly less at the slower speed. The 55mph speed limit also had some other effects. It reduced wear and tear on vehicles to such a degree that auto mechanics and new car dealers saw less business.K.Mooneyham wrote: Fri Mar 11, 2022 11:18 pm Slowing down some can save money.
