I was wondering how can I tell if the Detonic Servicemaster is the newer model. Some have called it the Detonic Servicemaster II. Is there any one feature or combination of features that will tell me?
I have read the Detonic Servicemaster II is heaver and some feeding issues had been resolved.
Any good of bad on either model..
I have a chance to buy a NIB for $ 950 for the latest version..

If the Detonics Combatmaster (older version ) was good enough for Magnum PI, its good enough for you.
Seriously, I've always wanted an older combat master just because of the TV connection, but the company is somewhat teetering.

I heard that they were sold again and are not producing anything..
BTW - How do you know Magnum used the Detonics?

I want to say I read it in an interview.
I also know that it was a popular gun to use in TV/Hollywood back then, due to a prop guy that made blank firing guns out of them. (Sonny Crockett also used one in Miami Vice I believe)

Most episodes his main gun was a Bren Ten stainless and a Detonics in his ankle holster.

Cockett, started with a Sig P220, went to Bren Ten the used S&W and Detonics is the ankle holster..
Magnum - I thought he had an Vietnam take home - Colt or one of the service pistols..

Looks full-size to me. Definitely not a Combat Master.
