Texas House Democrats are once again fleeing the state to break quorum to keep from passing new district voting maps that favor Republicans that match how these areas voted.

But the big one to me is that Gov. Abbot followed up on X (twitter) just 30 minutes to post listed below the Governor's:

It seems to me that the only way some of the fleeing Democrats can avoid bribery charges is to not break quorum.
It seems that would eliminate any potential quid pro quo connected to any payment they received to deny a quorum and skip a vote.

It's a good thing none of these Democrats were in the fight for Texas Independence. They would almost certainly have crossed Col. Travis's line in the sand and then hightailed it in the Run Away Scrape without stopping at San Jacinto and continued on across the Sabine and probably the Mississippi.

The Austin version of bread and circuses. At least the clowns have self-identified.

Governor Greg Abbott today filed an emergency petition in the Supreme Court of Texas seeking to remove from office Texas State Representative Gene Wu, the ringleader of the derelict Democrats who fled the state to break quorum.

The lawsuit points out how actions by Representative Wu, as well as the other Texas House Democrats who fled their legislative duties, constitute abandonment of their office, justifying their removal.

The lawsuit also spotlights how Wu and other Texas House Democrats appear to have solicited and received certain benefits in exchange for skipping a vote, further supporting their removal from office and allegations of bribery.
