State Fair of Texas 2025

So, I noticed the state fair will begin towards the end of September. I haven't been in several years. I was thinking of going this year, but not if they are still not allowing concealed carriers entrance with their personal protection firearm. Is there a change for this year?

No changes to the law nor the policy of not allowing law abiding licensed concealed carrying Texans.

Ya I checked last week knowing the Fair was coming soon. Still no change. Guess another year I am not going. I have always ridden DART rail to the fair to avoid parking fees and hassle and simply do not feel safe doing so unarmed.

Well, okay. I guess this will be another year of non-attendance for me and the missus. I refuse to go where I cannot have a feeling of self protection.

CAN SOMEONE WITH A LICENSE TO CARRY (LTC) BRING THEIR FIREARM TO THE FAIR?
No.

How can I stay safe if I can’t use my License to Carry (LTC)?

The State Fair of Texas works with DPD, DFR, DART Police, DISD Police, regional, state, and federal partners as well as private security partners to help keep fairgoers, employees, and vendors safe. While each of the entities focuses on ensuring a safe and family-friendly environment at the State Fair of Texas, we also ask that everyone remain “Fair Aware.” If you see something that doesn’t look right on the fairgrounds, please say something to a uniformed police officer or State Fair Safety Team member. Let’s all do our part to keep the State Fair safe.
All of the above "safety" partners were unable to prevent an unlicensed, illegal gun carrier from entering the fair grounds and shooting people. But hey, if you're there and you see someone about to shoot others, by all means say something. :banghead:

I had to look up the shooting I last remembered happening at the Fair. Didn't realize it was back in 2023. Apparently the shooter just got sentenced.

I have not been able to find out if the shooter had an LTC or not. Likely not. But unsurprisingly, the 3 articles I have read so far have made no mention if he had a license or not. Or if he was even legal to own a firearm.

Two years later, still no one can determine if the shooter had an LTC. Some crack investigative reporting. Seems like that would have come out during the trial.

I'm 99.9% sure he didn't.

I'm sure he didn't either. I was more so curious than anything. But the fact that the media fails to include an important detail like that boggles my mind. They definitely have an agenda of "guns are dangerous" more than the criminality of someone who shouldn't have a gun was able to get it past "security" at the State Fair.

One way to tell that he did not have an LTC is that the media never mentioned it. If you trust the media, this is because not having it is not news while having it is. Considering the percentage of the population with LTCs, not having it is normal and therefore not newsworthy.

Of course, if you are like me, not mentioning it is a sign of the media agenda being anti-gun. If he had an LTC they would have been blasting it all over because that will help create the image that LTCs are dangerous and no one should be allowed to have one.

But either way, not mentioning it means he did not have one.

The Legislature is going to fix this in 2027 for sure.
