Slow Death

This forum continues to die the death of 1,000 cuts.
No new members can get approved, old members can't reset passwords, new content is way down and the latest... none of the quick links are working and the system times out before I can get my user control panel to load (I have a stable 1Gb connection so it's unlikely a me problem).

Before this place goes completely off line, I wanted to say that I've enjoyed interacting with you all over these past 15(!!) years and wish you all well.

First time I've been able to log on in a month. I wish somebody who cares would take over the site.

I was going to agree with you when the system stopped letting me post. I could log in and read anything (if there was anything new) but any time I tried to post I would get a message saying "Forbidden".

At least some people must have been trying also because it had several people posting today which let me know it was working again.

I have been a member almost 21 years. I have a lot of friends I have met here and more information learned here than anywhere else. I miss the site when it goes down. I sure wished there was a way to help it to stay a float.

I appreciate Mr. Cotton for getting it back up and running again. :thumbs2:

Member sinch March of 05 and the last couple of years have been a challenge at best. Love this site when its up and running correctly. I don't post a lot but you guys and gals have been here and in prayer through some of my darkest times. I have learned more from this site than anywhere else. Hope someone can take it over to keep it going.

This forum is certainly unique and has been a blessing for so many of us.

I don't know any other place online like it.

Yeah, a bunch of forums I've belonged to have been slowly dying (some more abruptly than others).

Maybe the constant AI slop on other social media will push people back, but I doubt it...

On the forums I belong to there has been an increase in trolling that I suspect is AI. Mods are having to be vigilant to the new distractions.

Of all the gun sites I frequent, this one is my first "go to". I hate that it is being under utilized by its members. I long for the good old days of having so many new posts and responses to posts that it was hard to keep up some times. I do appreciate that it is back to working now.

I use a VPN. Regularly, I cannot log onto this forum because of it, even after I turn it off. I have gotten a "forbidden" message. Perhaps others are having the same problem and it is limiting the participation.

When I use a VPN to get here, I usually get a "permanently banned" message.
With recent forum issues, if I used a bookmark that was a "quick link" (from the hamburger menu in upper left of every page under the giant phpBB logo), like "active topics", I would get the Forbidden message... I never did get "Forbidden" due to VPN, but, I'm not saying it's not possible.. just that I've seen both issues (forbidden and VPN permaban) and they had unrelated causes, for me. YMMV, of course.
