Anyone ever seen/owned this gun before? I've been looking at it online and once in a store, the grip is a wee bit wide for my taste but with 12+1 rounds of .45 its really not that bad. Anyone know of any reliabilty problems with Para's or any problems with the LDA trigger?.

I'll be able to buy another firearm soon and I definately want a better CCW and this gun seems to fit all my needs, though I have NO experience with para nor can i find anyone who has owned one.

Any info would be appreciated, as well as any ideas for a good CCW. Sure is a pain in the rear having to decide on just one gun with soooo many choices out there.

I have a Para 14.40 which is the same size as the 12.45. I love it. I had a fail to feed out of the first two magazines but no problems since. I also love the LDA trigger.

I've never owned or fired an LDA. But,

Dec. 2002 issue of Gun Tests had an article about the Para Carry C 6.45 LDA. They gave it a "Buy it" rating. They did not find any flaws with it.

In the Feb. 2003 issue, they also gave a "Buy it" rating to the Model 7.45 LDA - a full-sized pistol with a 5" barrel.

Haven't checked through my more recent issues yet but I can not recall them giving an LDA a bad rating.

Since they take no advertising, I regard their evaluations as honest as opposed to the normal "rave" reviews in the more commercial gun mags.

I have a P-13 I have been carrying for about a dozen years now, I have tens of thousands of rounds through it and it has been reliable.

If you have average size hands the extra width in the grip will not be a problem for you. You will quickly get used to it.

I don't have a lot of experience with the LDA trigger. I have put about 600 of the 1,000 rounds that have been shot through my daughter's new Para Carry 9, and I like the trigger system.

Para Ordnance like any other manufacturer (and I do mean ALL of them), have had certain problem areas and learning curves with their products in the past. I think they make a pretty darn good pistol, but others will consider you a pariah for owning one.

Para products have a lifetime guarantee, service is good (if you should need it), and they have garnered an unprecedented 4 "gunny awards" for their product innovation.

I am not trying to push the "Para", there are many fine handgun makes out there. My experience with them has been good though.

Its just a "seasonal" thing (I hope).

They certainly are synchronized though.

I don't think the Big Hawg gets nearly enough press, either. 14+1 in a modestly sized .45... easy concealability, great trigger, how can you go wrong? The cheapest I've seen them is $649. The Nite Hawg and Warthawg are pushing a grand, I think, but 10+1 with a 3 inch barrel is pretty darn tempting!

I've been thinking long and hard about a one of these high cap Para's, but in the back of my mind i still think it is "blasphemy" of Good John's design. 7, being the holiest of numbers should not be altered. lol

Seriously though, I've heard nothing but good about the LDA and the Para's. The warranty work I've heard can be hit or miss on the time it takes them to turn something around.

Springfield does make a high cap 1911.
You may call me a Springfield, but I would purchase a Springfield over any other brand of pistol based on my 1911 and XD experiences. I sent my 1911 in due to a issue with the finish coming off in some spots, and albiet they were in "high useage" areas like under the thumb safety and the mag well, Springfield refinished the frame, cleaned a blemish off of the aftermarket extended slide release, and refinished the slide all under warranty. turn around time was exactly 2 weeks. They must have done some tweaking to it while it was there because the slide to frame fit seems much smoother and tighter than it did before.

I've been following this thread hoping that someone who owned a Carry 12 could weigh in with some insight. Like AFJailor, I have been intrigued by this gun and have seriously considered purchasing one. I researched it and found that Para seems to produce a quality firearm and the reviews of their LDA have been positive. Frankly, that LDA is what I find attractive in the weapon (along with the size and capacity). The only negative so far, at least for me, is the price. Best I have found on the Carry 12 is somewhere in the neighborhood of $950.00.

....but if it were a "perfect" shot, you'd only need "1"!
