So, ill be getting another .45 soon and I think im probably going to get rid of my P220, its two-toned and in good condition, i bought it through the Sig certified pre-owned deal for like $600 and some change i cant remember.
What im wanting to get to replace it is a G22 preferably new (mostly because all the Police departments that im going to apply to carry it.) '

What im wanting to know is, if i take the p220 to a gunstore, what kind of offer do you think im going to get from them as far as a trade? There isnt much wear on the p220 and its round count from me personally is only about 500 or so. I just want to make sure he doesnt try to screw me over.

Oh and also the p220 has hogue rubber grips and 2 8-round mags as well as the case/cable and whatnot.

A gun shop won't give you nearly as good of a deal as if you just sell it yourself.

Go here and compare yours to the ones listed for an idea of what you should ask (private party).

A gun shop by necessity needs to make a profit, so naturally they must pay you less than it is actually worth.

AFJailor:

Please DO NOT take it to a dealer.

Give the little guys a chance to buy your SIG face-to-face on the website:

http://www.TexasGunTrader.com

People will email you for pictures and then most likely set up a meeting for purchase. You'll probably get more $$$ than a dealer as well.

Yea I would love to do it FTF but unfortunately I live in the middle-of-no-where North Dakota and it makes selling a little hard. I plan to look for a buyer first but theres only like 40,000 people in 150 sq miles here, IF that :)

Yea, the Air Force hates southern folks, there are SO many texans stationed up here. I went from 100 degrees to -100 degrees. What sucks is, even in the summer its almost as hot as texas, we spend months at 95 or higher :(

The worst is going from the Desert and comiing home to 6 ft of snow and -60 degree weather wearing nothing but DCU's.

You are at Minot, right? That's the coldest place I have ever been. I still say that you can't tell the difference between -30 and -60. Great people up there though. That's a very tight knit base.

I agree with not taking it to a dealer. It may take longer to sell but it will be worth it to try and sell it yourself.

I imagine there's plenty of heat in Minot right now, after they put six nukes on a B-52 headed to Barksdale.

AFJailor,

One point to consider before you buy a Glock. Glock has a great specail price for law enforcement officers. In most cases, it is below what a normal dealer will pay for the pistol wholesale. If you are sure you want the Glock, you might want to wait until you get on a department (the job offer is good enough) to get them to sign the letter you need for it. You could also see if the military qualifies, especially with your specialty. I do not know if they do or not.

As a price comparison, a G22 is only $398 from GT Distributing (you have to live in Texas though). You might try to find the local law enforcement dealer.

When I checked the GT price on their web site, it says military qualifies, if that helps.

Send me some pictures and if I like, I will buy when you come home on leave. Or, you could transfer it through an FFL:)
