Recripical carry differencies in contigious states.

Is there a site, or current publication, where differencies in recripical licensed carry for other states are mentioned?
It'd help if the differencies were stated in plain speak language w/o reading each states statues.
Thanks,
salty.

Probably not, because there would be about 1,000 combinations.
Since that answer is not too helpful, I bought a copy of this book:
http://www.gunlaws.com/.
It's only $10. It has about one page per state, in plain English. It does not have state-to-state comparisons, probably for the reason I mentioned.

A database type chart might effectively cover it. Might be able to tell from categoric yes or no answers.

Considering we can't all agree what's legal in Texas, I don't expect someone to be able to compile the rules for all 50 states (and keep it current.)

We get into arguments about arcane fine points and hypothetical situations.
A traveler really just needs to be aware of a few requirements. For example, in the case of Texas, the handgun must be concealed, stay out of bars, don't pass 30.06 signs, but you can ignore generic 'no guns signs."
That book that I mentioned contains that information, and it's updated once a year. The author is a lawyer.

Here is about the best cross reference I have found
http://www.handgunlaw.us/. There is not a 'matrix' per-se, but it does have some break-outs like off-limits by state, car/RV carry, etc.

How about the "Travelers Guide to Firearms Law of the 50 States"

Doesn't that also imply that these are, in real life, the only things we Texans really need to be concerned with as well?

Yes and no.
A traveler has few reasons to go to a school, courthouse, polling place, or jail. We do.
Residents also have to be aware of things like the requirement to identify to LEO, address changes, and the timeframe for renewing.
But the bottom line is that concealed means concealed, and cops don't have X-ray eyes except in the movies.

While some tend to analyze to death. and there many fine points. The basic rules are pretty simple. I read here and learn new stuff every day, but basically it was pretty well covered in my CHL class.
One area that we analyze to death is on the penal code on when we can use deadly force. I believe most folks have figured out where the line is drawn, and it has little to do with the law, at least Texas law.
Texas Rules in a Nutshell:
Don't let them see your gun
NO Bars, No alcohol
If the sign says 30.06 stay out
If the cop asks for ID show licence and CHL
Don't shoot or threaten to shoot anyone unless you or yours is is very serious danger.
Yeah, there is more to it, but he above rules basically covers things and will keep most of us out of trouble.

Here is something I never wondered about before..... but this thread got me to thinking:
As holders of Texas CHLs, we are required to show CHL to LEO when requested for ID. How does that relate if we are in another state ?
Say we are in a state that honors a Texas CHL and that state does not require showing the CHL on a traffic stop. Do we still follow the law that is associated with our state's CHL, or do we follow the law in the state we are in ?
Personally, I will show mine every and any time I have contact with a LEO and am asked, but I was just wondering.....

All you need to do is follow the law of the state you're in.
Where this gets important is in regards to prohibited places, proper signs, etc. You need to know the laws of each state you visit.

Now that the kids have started their own families, the bride and I occasionally take short week-end road trips.
I was curious if there was a source of information regarding signage or carry restrictions in adjoining states.
To add a bit more confusion,
are Tribal Lands different than state land?..BLM land?
I know this is The Texas CHL Forum, but also realize that Texans occasionally visit other states less fortunate. (You're supposed to grin a bit there)
Thanks,
salty.
