On the radio this morning (a Dallas talk station) they were discussing a teacher that is suing to be able to carry a concealed handgun to class. (It's been dicussed on this forum) Anyway, a caller called in and said she had told the world that she has her permit, a taboo, .. and he said that in the state of Texas, you could lose your liscence for divulging you have a CHL. I agree it is VERY advantageous not to ever tell, but is this true about losing your liscence? This program was also having a siscussion on "school marshals"- not unlike air marshalls who can carry on airplanes and airports-who can carry on school property and nobody would be the wiser..

The person on the radio was misinformed. You would have to do something else than simply mention that you have a CHL to lose it. If that was all it took, pretty much all of us here would be outed and lose it. This *IS* a public forum - as in anyone can read it. Thus we have all anounced to the world at large (via screen names) that we carry.

No. Some folks even tell other when they are carrying, such as to gain entry to State Fair. No law against that either.

I wish this kind of silliness could be quashed.

As I understand it, every CHL instructor has a CHL. Therefore, if someone advertises CHL classes, they are de facto advertising that they have a CHL. ElGato even wears a cap and a sign on his vehicle identifying him as an instructor.

Actually, being an instructor does NOT automatically make you a CHL holder.

Instructors who wish to have a CHL have to apply just like anyone else, and renew just like anyone else. The only difference is that instructors do not have to submit a TR-100 (proof of training). They submit a copy of the instructor's certificate instead.

But, back to the original question. Losing your CHL for disclosing that you have one? Stupidest thing I ever heard!
