Arlington School In Lockdown
(CBS 11 News) FORT WORTH Three people have been shot and killed at a house in Fort Worth. The bodies of a woman and two children, ages 10 and 13, were found in the 2100 block of Mims Street. The minors are reportedly the children of the dead woman.
CBS 11 News has learned that the dead woman and the suspected shooter are married, but estranged and going through a divorce.
The suspect, an African American male, is now involved in a police stand-off at Carter and Mayfield in Arlington. Arlington police are reportedly negotiating with the man, who is sitting in a car in the driveway of a house.
CBS 11 News reporter Jay Gormley says at one point police, negotiating through a bullhorn, asked the suspect to roll down his window, throw out the keys and put out his hands. The suspect reportedly has been talking on his cell phone and has a gun to his head.
The standoff scene is near Lynn Hale Elementary. The school in the 2400 block of East Mayfield has been locked down. As a precaution 630 students and 70 staff members have been moved to the back of the building.
Officials with the Arlington Independent School District are asking parents not to come to the school to pick up their children. Administrators don't want children to exit the building until the standoff situation is resolved.
The situation began after a female toddler, covered in blood, was dropped off at the Mayfield Road Baptist Church. Despite appearances, the three-year-old is said to be uninjured. The child is said to be the daughter of the suspect.
When the girl was dropped off at the church the suspect reportedly told a church staff person that had killed some people and were going to kill more.
