Kimbers newest 1911.

Man this gun is sweet its called the Kimber SIS and thusfar i havent been able to find any info online about it. I found the officer sized one at my local gun store and instantly reserved it. It has a steel frame/slide with the blue kimpro finish (just like the warrior), nightsights, bull barrel, some nice looking grips and the rear slide serations spell out SIS. One more thing, and im not sure about this because i forgot to ask but i dont think it has the schwartz safety.
From what i was told it was designed for LAPD's undercover narcotics unit.
Anyone seen one of these in texas, or have any additional info on it?

Sight Cocking is an alternate means to rack the slide or clear a jam if one of your arms were to become disabled in a fight. Probably more along the lines a LEO would have to worry about.

That's where you rack the slide using only one hand, ie.. one hand/arm is not working. So you can put the sight on your belt, heel of your boot, etc... and rack the slide.

... let me get this straight and please correct me if I'm mistaken.
I've used a mag so I load another...one handed...then I rack the slide with the sight against my boot, belt, or pants inseam worst case.
Jeez...this CHL stuff is pretty intense.
Gotta love the Kimbers though.

Okie dokey -- I actually knew about that method, but I wouldn't have considered the correct term to be "sight cocking". "Sight racking" maybe...

Does "Professional Series" mean that these Kimbers are supposed to work straight out of the box? The slide gripping serrattions look outright slippery for a gun that is designed for a proffessional carry. Like LEO. Will they really get $968 for this thing? Or are Kimbers commonly discounted from their MSRP? I have to admit that the only 1911 I ever fired was while I was in the Army .. It was pretty worn jamed twice, looked like a piece of junk and a pain to field strip. Maybe someday I'll get to try out one of these $1000. beauties and will understand what all the excitement is about. one advantage of these though is that it will be California legal. None of my guns are.

I don't think I need one of those. I do not like the rear sight (although I understand the use of it). I have a BUG for situations that sight was designed for.
After all, how many rounds are you actually going to fire before it is over one way or the other?:fire
I'll stick with my Kimber Stainless Pro Carry II internal extractor) and my Kimbers UCII and Eclipse II (both external extractors).
I don't need to buy every gun that is available.
One interesting thing though is they have gone back to series 1 style extractor (internal) on this pistol!
