County of residence delay approval times ?

I've read thru a few of the posts in The Waiting Room and seem to notice some counties are having relatively quick turn around times and others aren't.

Can some of you list a county and turn around time ?

I'm wondering if there is any creedence to this. It might make waiting a little easier on some if they are prepared for a longer wait.

Looks like Harris county is pretty quick unless of course there is a problem with prints, the photo etc.. and San Antonio and Travis county look like they take a little longer.

What about your county ?

If we get enough info, I can chart the info and give us a useless piece of trivia to extend the anguish of waiting ;-)

Dallas county here. 45 days from mailing off the app to receiving the plastic in the mail.

Austin (inside the city limits): 60 days from their "Received date" (8/15) to plastic (10/15).

As an aside, my name is "common" enough that I've had to sign many affidavits during loan closings stating that I was NOT any of those guys that did bad things or owed folks money, so I expected to take a full complement of review time. Just a hunch.

I'm in Austin (Travis County), and it was 59 days door-to-door. Most other folks seemed to get theirs at around 45 days during the same period. I believe there was another Austinite on here around the same time and he received his very close to 60 as well.

Waiting time for me was early March until early May.

I'm also in Austin, and just passed day 60. I knew going in that Travis county was going to drag its feet, so I applied for a Florida license a week or two after Texas. It arrived in less than two weeks, and is valid for carry in Texas. I don't have a common name, multiple addresses, or anything else that should've caused this kind of delay.

I'm in Collin County.

A year and a half or so ago, it took me 61 days from the date received to the date my plastic was received by me.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Did your packet some soon after you requested it? And did you just use the fingerprint card or did you somehow do the digital prints?
Thanks

Winston,

The packet came within a few days of submitting the online request at:

http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/license/forms.html

I requested two "Concealed Weapon or Firearm License" applications. They're free so grab two just in case you make a mistake on one.

I was able to submit Live Scan (digital) prints in Miami due to some travel I had already planned. It definitely sped things up, but I was told by the staff at the Florida Division of Licensing that ink cards were being processed in about 4 weeks at the time.

A green sheet that's enclosed with the application and a rules/laws booklet has info about the Live Scan program. You might want to call the DOL to see if there's a way to submit electronic prints from Texas. They're very friendly and were very knowledgeable about the process for out-of-state applicants.
