1. I LOVE the DPS range.

2. The lefty libtard DPS CHL staff attorney must be getting soft. she actually made it clear about the new car carry law.

3. For out of state criminal histories DPS depends on the FBI check only.

4. They no longer want the CHL application number on the FP cards.

5. On the FP cards, they only want the state of birth, rather than city or county and state.

6. A person with a non-immigrant visa can get a CHL if they have a hunting license.

What am I forgetting?

When I went years ago, it had those targets that turn towards you at the press of a button and present themselves, then turn back when time is up. And the firing line was wide enough to accomodate probably 40 shooters all at once.

Cool....similar to the moving target range at Ft. Benning, GA. There, Ivan pops up then moves along the track and goes back down after the set time/distance. Makes targeting a little different as they are moving at angles towrds and away from you.

When I was a kid we made our own range for shooting moving targets. We went to an area that had a buch of old trash dumped, would tape targets into the old tires, then roll them down the hill across in front of the shooters. Kind of a poor man's Hogans Alley.

DPS is not going to address the HB1815 and federal school zone carry. It came up, and she just said it is law, and would be a matter of fact for a judge or jury if there was an arrest for it.

Government Schools can post all they want, but as per 30.06 it is an exception that the property is or leased by a government entity. If a person were ever charged, the court would determine the facts. IOW, DPS is not going to say what LE agencies can or might do.

So when a private company leases property owned by a government entity, can they enforceably post it or not?

I did not ask this specific question, but American Airlines Center would seem to be proof that they can.

It is a HUGE place, for at least 4 ranges, or maybe 5. They have a classroom and offices. They have a general range where they haul in old cars and shoot them up for LE training.

The main handgun range has at least 60 stations, with concrete at the main firing positions and walkways. At the of that range is a HUGE covered area with chairs and tables. The handgun uses RF and compressed air to turn the targets. They can preprogram in the course of fire or do it manually before each string. The targets only stay visible for the allotted time.

It has a full 180 degree backstop coverage.

They also have a range with moving targets, a rifle range and a shotgun range with Skeet.
