How long should the wait be?

I recently ordered an XCR rifle and had it sent to my FFL. I saw online when it was delivered so I took a quick lunch to pick up my rifle. Well the dealer seemed a little agitated and asked for me to wait for a call next time (also commented that I should buy from them). Well I thought maybe he's just having a bad day so I agreed waited for about 20mins for him to do the transfer.

Now I have another pistol ordered around the same time as the xcr and it shows it was delivered yesterday 10/19/07 at 12:30. I have not received any call to go and pick it up. I'm leaving out of town tonight and would like to have it before I leave.

Also like to point out that I pay a hefty fee for the transfer $35 plus tax.....am I exaggerating here or do need to be more patient?

To be fair, he has to record the gun into his records before he can release it. Is he a full time, open regular hours dealer, or is he doing this part time?

If the latter I would cut him some slack.

Where do you live? You might try finding someone else to do your transfers. I know there are several on the board here doing them for MUCH better that $35. My partner is in The Colony, and we do them for $15.

I am in Ft. Worth by Keller, and as soon as the ATF approves my place, we will be doing them here too.

I would change FFL's. Find one that who has a personality you like and CHANGE! By the way I would call now, so I could take my gun with me.

If he wants you to buy stuff form him tell him he needs to offer stuff at competitive prices.

Yea, $35 is abit steep to start with and it looks like he's making you wait extra time because yer not buying from him...

Dump him. Surely there are a lot of xfer guys around Houston.. My guy is a full time cop and only charges me $15. Average seems to be $20. Check out Guns America, they have an FFL search list by zip/distance... Here's a link: http://www.gunsamerica.com/FFLSearch.htm

Are they allowed to charge tax on the transfer fee? The last couple of purchases I did the transfer fee was $20 period - no tax.
