Need help to identify...

A friend of mine asked me about getting some "new" grips for a .357 "wheelgun" of Italian make...Starts with an "A" he says...

I have no idea what kind of pistol this is, but it has a 6" barrel and standard wooden checkerboard grips...

I figured a "slip-on" Hogue style grip might work, but I need to find out what this gun is first...

I'll press him a little more, but I figure someone here might know what this is and if a slip on grip will work in this case...

Thanks...

I'd say folks might need a little more to go on. It would probably help to get pictures and a manufacturer/model name. I didn't find an Italian manufacturer of functional revolvers starting with an "A" in a brief search.

The only thing I can find close to your description would be Astra, a Spanish manufacturer. They did make revolvers in .357. I found one on gunbroker that matches your description, including the checkered grip, except that it's in .44 Mag and has a longer barrel.

From the descriptions I've found, they're not very highly thought of. The prices on them seem to reflect this.

Yep, found out it is more of a curio piece, but apparently still functional... :?: :?:

So I am still trying to figure out why he wants to put a "performance" grip on it...

Interesting concept to me at least...

Thanks for the possible maker of this firearm...I'll confirm here in a second...

Yep, its an Astra...

Not sure of the after-market availability of any performance "grips" for this make...

Even if you wanted to swap them out...
