Took the class from El Gato on Sunday (11-18)
Mailed the packet to Austin this morning.
Since I used my wife's Beretta .380 to qualify, I have some time to figure out what to get for myself.
Her waiting time started sometime last month, after submitting a second photo, because the first was too big.

What a day to mail in the packet... the same day cert is granted in DC v. Hellar.

The "return receipt" came back yesterday, so guessing they received the package on Monday (11-26).
Assuming a 60-to-90-day clock, that sounds like sometime in February.
Class 11-18-07
Packet mailed 11-20-07
Packet (apparently) received 11-26-07
good news for my wife

My wife talked to the Austin DPS office on Friday, and the nice lady told her that her CHL was in the queue to go out in the mail. She was going to see if she could expedite.
Shirley wants me to go along on her Wally-Walk when the certificate arrives.

I should have been clearer.
She wants me to accompany her. She will carry, I will not (except packages).
I will not be carrying until my plastic arrives.

Shirley called me a few minutes ago. She checked the status of her application and got
Processing Completed - License Issued
or words to that effect.
I believe she took the class right around Labor Day, so her total processing time was just about ninety days.
Hope mine's just a bit quicker than that.

OK, guys, how long does it take from the time they post that you've got it until it arrives?
Remember that commercial some years ago, where the woman was looking in the glass doors of the store, saying, "Open! Open! Open!"
Well, now, I'm here saying, "Get here! Get here! Get here!"

G-Ma just called, singing and dancing, because her plastic arrived in the mail today. Unfortunately, I won't get home until after 2100, so she reluctantly will postpone her Wally Walk until tomorrow afternoon.
Her timeline (approx):
bought first pistol (P3AT) on 8-23
class on 8-26 (requested application packet online)
resubmit photo about 9-15
told (on phone) it was ready to go out in the mail 11-30
received 12-10 (day after her birthday)
Her expiration date is 12-9-2012, so she gets a full five years out of the first one.
Meanwhile, I'm patiently waiting for my PIN.
