Anyone know the status for CHL at George R. Brown in Houston?

That's what I suspected. So basically, you don't know for sure until you get there...

Sometimes you can use Google to look up the rules for an event.

15. CONCEALED HANDGUNS
Possession of firearms is forbidden in the Facility with the exception of the following: (i) licensed peace officers and licensed honorably retired peace officers and (ii) exhibitors and patrons during duly licensed gun shows and (iii) individuals licensed by the State of Texas to carry concealed handguns.

You can absolutely count on the High Caliber shows at GRB being posted 30.06. Even though I consider these postings invalid, if you choose to carry, be especially discreet there.

After the situation there a few months ago, where some idiot had his concealed pistol out and managed to shoot himself, HPD will not care whether the postings are valid or not.

From the policy statement you quoted (I also read thorugh the whole set of regulations you linked to), it seems that the facility management does not allow the event management to ban the carrying of concealed handguns by licensed individuals.

I would consider this as part of the terms of the rental/lease agreement between the facility and the people putting on the event.

So even under my interpretation of 30.06 law (leasee can post no matter who owns it unless the terms of the lease say otherwise) the event management does not appear to be able to post enforceable 30.06 signs at this facility.

Someone (the TSRA maybe?) should point this out to the management of events that post 30.06 signs there.

I attended the NRA Convention there in 2005 and I carried throughout. I do not recall seeing any 30.06 signs at that event.

Hmmmm, that idiot was not carrying concealed at the time of the discharge...

The pistol that did discharge was handled (and worked on) by another vendor before that person (who is a member of this forum) went to another booth (vendor) where he was attempting to ensure the weapon was clear prior to handing it to that vendor for additional work...See there were two almost identical G23's in the bag he was carrying...shhhhh...

Apparently a few mistakes, coupled by a distraction, combined with human nature led to an unfortunate accident...And that person paid a big chunk of money and physical trauma for that...And they will never forget that lesson either...

Fortunately no one else was injured in that discharge...And the case was dissmissed against this person...
