NRA Membership Drive

The 2008 federal elections are going to be some of the most critical gun owners have faced in years. The Presidential election is obviously important, but so too are the Senate and House elections. There are more Senate Republicans up for reelection than sitting Democrats, so we are at a disadvantage before the campaign even starts.
If you are not an NRA Member, or if it's time to renew, please click on one of the links in the header and join. Try to get at least one friend or family member to join as well. Several people have commented over the years about the effect the doubling of the NRA's membership would have on our power in Washington. Well, we aren't going to get 2 million new members from TexasCHLforum, but I hope our community will do its part.
Thanks,
Chas.

Thank you, Charles.
I completed my third NRA instructor course just last weekend, and I have an additional 60 or so hours of NRA training as a student.
Those who think they understand the NRA, but are not active in it, should know that the organization has evolved--though the core values have not changed--and an in-depth visit to the Website at
http://www.nra.org is recommended.
I'm noting this only because those who don't know the NRA assume it is only a political action organization. It is much more than that.
In fact, the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) must follow legal guidelines like those of any corporate Political Action Committee.
I use electronic bill-pay at my bank. I'll bet many of you do: it's cheaper than postage, easy, and convenient. And it allows a range of payment options at no charge. Typically, you can setup any payee in electronic banking so long as you have an account number and know their mailing address.
This allows painless NRA-ILA support. It isn't tax-deductible, but it's painless. If your bank, like most, doesn't charge for online banking, you can setup a small monthly (or quartery) donation.
You can contribute a small monthly amount and you'd never feel it in the pocketbook. Seriously. Even $3 or 5$ per month can add up to huge leverage for the National cause.
Consider it.

Russell-
Please PM the information required on the NRA application. I will then pay for a year of membership for you with the hope you renew that membership when it expires a year from now. Don't forget to let me know which magazine you desire.
I was just waiting for someone to ask. Merry Christmas. Take care.

This is something we all need to do to show our support to the NRA, especially now for these upcoming elections. I have already made my commitment to support the NRA.
However, a small comment/suggestion regarding the banner: could you put it at the top of the scrollable page so that it can be scrolled out of the way when trying to look at the posts? I don't know about others, but with my small screen, I don't have much room left to view the forum posts.
