I went to the last one, the GCA one, really really dissapointed. I think this one is the High Calibur show. Is it any better?

Of course not knowing what you are dissapointed about, makes it hard to answer this question. I prefer the gunshow at the GRB. I have been aboe to find, for the most part ,what I want at the price I am willing to pay for it. I have bought & sold several guns there, as well as accessories for those and other guns. The only thing I would like to see at any gunshow is more custom leather holsters, especially from the Texas holster makers.

The prices were too high, poor selection, very little ammo, too much airsoft toys.

Sadly, the HGCA show is only a shadow of its Astrohall days when it was the greatest thing going. Still, I would have said the prices and selection are better now than the GRB shows.

But I guess if you take out all of the displays, GRB probably has more firearm related merchandise.

The Saxet show that was held every month in Spring was very good and the Saxet show that was held in the San Antonio Airport Convention Center was huge. They are still struggling with finding a venue to replace the ACC with shows starting in Freeman Coliseum.

I always attend the three Saxet shows held in Conroe just to see different vendors.

Of course, I don't worry about such. I go to all shows within a reasonable distance.

I know this may open a can of worms but does anyone know if the GRB is posted with a 30.06 for the show this weekend?

I have yet to go to a High Cailber show that wasn't posted. I'm not saying it isn't today, but....

We just returned from the GRB. Spent five hours, from nine until two.

There was a 30.06 sign at the entrance.

We were just looking for accessories today (and my wife picked up a few Christmas presents, as well).

Couple of holsters, wooden grips for my Single-Six, a leather vest, spare magazine for her Browning, and the like.

Sorely disappointed today.

I didn't make a list of specific prices today, but it seemed like items were even higher than the Pasadena show.

Two in particular: At the Pasadena show I spotted a M96 Swede that was marked $359. I talked him down to $300 and had put the cash in his hand until he balked at giving me his name and address. Same guy today, same gun, now marked $395 and unwilling to budge.

At Pasadena I had spotted two Marlin 1894's in .41 Mag. they were priced $500 and $519. Only one at GRB was priced $550. I got him down to $500 but did pay sales tax, so was $541.

I still go, hoping to spot a deal. But with my C&R and dealer mailings that I get, there is very little that I can't buy cheaper.

And no one has yet stepped in to fill the reloaded ammo void left by T's. Collins only brings the most common calibers in limited quantities. In the past, if you bought a gun in an odd caliber, you could almost always count on T's having some ammunition for it.

Thanks for the updates.

I might run by tomorrow and poke around.

Is the Pasadena show any good? Trying to decide between the Pasadena show this weekend and the Houston show later this month.

I've always enjoyed the Pasadena show, I grew up there so I've been plenty of times... the convention center is easy to get to and out of and there is usually a nice selection of vendors and weapons. This week's show is from Real Gun Show while last month's was from High Caliber and the one at Reliant in two weeks is from Houston Gun Collectores Assoc. I'm personally going to the Pasadena show on Sunday, and if for some reason don't find the things I am looking for then will make the trip to Reliant... I don't like going to Reliant unless I have to because it is such a pain to get in and out of.

Actually, there is a Real Gun Show at Pasadena this weekend AND a High Caliber at Pasadena next weekend.

The Real Show may be disappointing. As I understand, about two shows back, Jerry Carr sold Real to a couple of members of the Houston Gun Collectors Assoc. Originally, HGCA was going to buy it, but there was some kind of issue with keeping their non-profit status. The new owners seem to be struggling to get things right and there appear to be fewer dealers at each show.

I say attend all of them, cause that's what I do. But the best choice would be between the High Caliber show on the 12-13th at Pasadena or the HGAC show at Reliant on the 19-20th.
