I did not know it was possible to have "tighter gun control" in Japan. The article does not say what type of firearm he used, but it is interesting that the media highlighted that he "reportedly possessed more than 2,500 gun pellets, three times as many as an authorised hunter is allowed to have."
2,500 gun pellets? I wonder what he had in his other pocket?

It is really hard to imagine someone being able to practically transport 2500 shotgun cartridges while actively shooting at people. I'm leaning toward that report referring to actual total number of pellets in the cartridges for the purpose of making a much more dramatic headline. That or Japanese gun laws are dumber than I could have ever imagined.
Lets for the moment, assume this article's "facts" are a gross misunderstanding or typo...It's VERY hard to imagine even the fastest shotgunners in the world firing anywhere near 250, let alone 2500 rounds with a shotgun, auto-loading or not, in an active shooter scenario. Even with the highest capacity, box-magazine fed, shotguns that come to mind, someone would have ample opportunity to walk over, take the shotgun and beat the shooter to death! But in a world of sheep, being told by other sheep, that sheep should wait for the gooberment to protect them, anything is possible.

Since when have the anti's or even the media ever let the facts get in the way of them pursuing their agenda?

Pellet/BB guns are restricted in Japan and you have to have a permit for them. I'll bet they also restrict the number of pellets you can posses.
EDIT: Here is some interesting reading on
Japan's gun law. It states you can only own 800 rounds at home, but think they are refering to powdered ammo. I'll bet he was using a pellet gun, carrying 2500 pellets and the media applied the 800 round rule to their statment.

sounds like he was packing pellets for his bb gun,i cant see him lugging ten cases of shotgun shells around,it might draw unwanted attention to the shotgun he was carrying
