Longer sessions?

Does anyone else wish there were longer sessions allowed before you were forced to log in again? I realize it's a security feature but we aren't exactly doing our online banking here. Would be convenient if I could come back to a tab I had opened a few hours ago and still be logged in.

I don't get logged out.
What happened to me under the old system was that 'messages since last visit' would reset after some time, resulting in posts getting by me. This would typically occur after several hours, but I was never logged out.
I haven't experienced any problems under the new system.

They have pills for that now.
Sorry, but I couldn't help myself.
I have only had to log on once after the upgrade, and that includes after rebooting my PC.
The only suggestion that makes sense is deleting cookies from the texasshooting.com domain.
If you're using Internet Explorer, some security setting might need to be tweaked. I'm using Mozilla.

Check on your Internet security software or virus scan software; they may be deleting the cookie or clearing cache and causing you to need to log in again.

Weird it doesn't like me. My gmail stays logged in perpetually so I don't think it's any security settings but I'll poke around the firefox options to see what I can find. I had tried deleting my cookies. They all had an expiration date of Dec 2008 though.

Something may also be blocking your receipt of the cookie. Check and see if you have a cookie for texasshooting.com in your files. If not, it may be the reason for the timeout.

Sure enough between my previous post to this thread and now I had to log back in. Didn't close the browser. I have 4 cookies for texasshooting.com phpbb3_sv51z_u, phpbb3_sv51z_k & phpbb3_sv51z_sid & style_cookie

Try this, log out, close the browser window. Delete the texasshooting.com cookies, then open the browser and log back and see if that doesn't fix the issue.

I had tried deleting cookies and restarting earlier in the day. I have it open on tabs on both my home & work computers though so I'm wondering if that's having anything to do w/ it. Will make sure to close out at my house before leaving for work tomorrow and see if that helps.

I don't know why it works - but this is what I've had to do (on the old site and again after the upgrade):
- clear all the cookies and any bookmarks to the site
- log back in
- then bookmark the home page
- after that, my login stays intact
I'm using windows XP and IE 6.0

I turned off my home computer this morning but sure enough still not having any luck at the office. I had checked the box to Log me off automatically thinking i could toggle it back and then see if that worked out. But when i went to log back in it was unchecked. Maybe I accidentally clicked it in the past and it's something that's for good once you do?

Hmmmm, very strange. You might try MrsFosForos' suggestion. Other than that, I am tapped out on ideas.

I've looked at everything in your registration profile in the Admin. Control Panel and I don't see any setting that would cause this. (I'm not taking about the User Profile, but the Admin. profile.) I too have left my machine on for hours and have not been logged off. (I usually don't intend to do this, I just forget and head to court, deposition, or elsewhere.) I'll try to look on the phpBB website and see if I can find anyone else having this problem.
Chas.

You're too kind, it's not that big of a deal though if you can't readily find anything.
