Ah'm gittin' an LDA

I just discovered I'm getting a compact Para LDA for Christmas. A couple of weeks ago I was in McBride's Gun Shop in Austin picking up a gold eagle coin for my granddaughter. After buying the coin, I walked over into the gun room and looked over a 3" LDA model that I had been eyeballing for a few months. The clerk handed it over and after asking if it was OK I dry fired it. Naturally, it had the SWEET trigger action of all LDA's. I came within an inch of flipping the credit card on the counter and buying it, but in the end I handed it back.

When I got home I mentioned to my wife and son (who just finished his CHL class) that I was checking out the gun and that it would make a fine carry gun. My wife reminded me that we were putting out a lot of money in Christmas presents and that we needed to keep the budget under control. Besides, she said, I already have plenty of guns.

So yesterday I was in McBride's again on my lunch break picking up some coins for my son. Again I walked into the gun room. But this time the little Para was gone. I asked the clerk if it had sold and he said it must have because it wasn't there in the case. I smiled to myself and told him I bet I knew the person who bought it.

When I got back to my office I logged in to my credit card account. Sure enough, there was a charge to McBride's for $810 made on 12/11/2007. Merry Christmas Frankie, Ho.. Ho..Ho....

She complains a lot but she's a good woman.

I wonder if she got me a holster too.

You should love it Frankie.

My daughter has really enjoyed hers and it seems the perfect carry weapon (for her).

Do you mind telling us what model it is?

I mean, its just 3 days early. :reddevil

I'm pretty sure it's the Para Carry model. It's stainless steel and has a 3" barrel.

Oh he'll get it alright. But he's gonna have to pour some dirt over me first.

I hope his wife or son reads this forum...:bigear: and that the first gift he's handed is a beautifully wrapped piece of coal! :biggrinjester:

I handled the same model Para LDA at a gun show a few months back. The dealer actually asked me to try the trigger. I couldn't believe how light and smooth it was. I am sure that you will enjoy it. Merry [early] Christmas Frankie.

Yup,

And they get better with a bit of use.

You can "stage" them if you like and get a "near single action" trigger feel when the sear breaks (releases).

Or you can just "roll through it" and hardly even feel the sear.

Yes, it is a long trigger pull and reset, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Conga-rats. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I love my LDA.

Sounds like this one to me:

This one and the Carry 9 are what my daughter was torn between.

She went with the Carry 9, but could have shot the .45 equally well IMO.

Yup. I think that's the one.

Now I gotta find a nice fitted leather IWB holster for it. And a couple of spare mags.

I would assume it would take the 6 round mags made for the Officer's Model, right?

Can't answer about the mags., any holster for a 3" (or slightly longer) gun will work though.

I've got some Wilson Combat 7 and 8 round mags for my Commander. If they lock into the pistol properly, I'll just order up some of their 7 round Officer's Model mags.

Otherwise, I'll get 1 or 2 of the 6 round ones that Para sells on their website.

I noticed that the gun comes with 2 mags, so I'm almost ready for IDPA as is.
