Police surround the body of the man who was shot.
DALLAS — Dallas homicide detectives were investigating the fatal shooting of an apparent burglar late Wednesday in the 300 block of Alcalde Street, near Haskell Avenue and Elm Street.
Police said a man was found dead in a garage at the location, which is an electrical business. He was shot about 9 p.m. in a confrontation with a man who was looking after the business while the owner was away, they said.
The shooter was being questioned in the incident, police said.
The location has a history of problems; police have made at least 10 calls there since 2005.

Ouch!
Could the shooter possibly get in hot water for being an unlicensed security guard?
I hope not.

That's an interesting take on it, but I hope he's covered since he was asked to look after the place.

I might be wrong but,I believe to be called a security guard would require you being paid .If somebody says hey can you keep an eye on my place while i'm out of town I don't think would fall under the rules.I might be wrong and if i am someone will come along and say

.On the other hand maybe the burglar got struck by lightning or sumpin else.I believe that being a criminal in Texas is becoming hazardous to their health.

You'd think the burglars would "catch on"...as many of them have been shot in the DFW area.
But, I guess not.

You might want to review this post:

Without stating my own opinion, the subject was discussed to some length.

Being paid is not a requirement, but I don't believe "looking after the place" as it seems to be meant here requires licensing as a guard. At any rate, the article failed to mention the relationship of the shooter to the owner, or how he effected his looking after the place.
The shoot was good, it appears.

The "Express Lane" on TX death penalties has gotten a little more EXPRESS. And of course, its a good thing.
