My cousin e mailed me about something called [* 77], supposed to be a number you can call from your cell phone, give your location and find out if an unmarked car trying to pull you over is actually a police car or some BGs.
If BGs, the orerator is supposed to call LO and have them intercept you.
Does anyone know if this is factual?
Seems if it is, it should be more well known.

No, it isn't true.

As stated it is not true. In some states dialing *77 or #77 will connect you with the Highway Patrol, but it is not universal for all states. Someone took this and ran with it to make it an Urban Legend.

My girlfriend thought it was true and didn't believe me when I said "no way". Then she heard it being denounced on the Oprah Winfrey show, and thus, "knew" it must be a hoax.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger Snake Doctor. My wife would probably believe Oprah before me too, and we've been married 25 years! :confused5:
