Can I change out 870P's barrel to convert it to a turkey gun? I do realize that i need to buy a barrel along with the gun.

I would assume it changes out just like any other 870.

Swap out the barrel and you'll be good to go. As far as I know, all Remington 870 receivers have the same barrel pattern. Of course, you'll have to put a pencil or dowel in the mag tube to lower the capacity to a maximum of 3 shells to be legal.

The only part I am not sure about is the chamber length. I am 99% sure that all 3" chamber barrels will work with all standard receivers, but there are some 870s that accept 3.5" shells and I don't know where the differences between them are. Not sure I would want to go 3.5" shells anyway though...

Turkey is non migratory, I don’t think you would need to mess with plug,
