Tech victims, their families protest state gun laws

AP article about the current battle in Virginia over gunshow background checks.

One of the VT shooting victims is going to have a rough time with life. I guess some people do not learn anything from their experiences:
Colin Goddard, who survived despite being shot four times by Cho, was taken aback when a member of the Firearms Coalition approached him and said students could have stopped the rampage if they had been allowed to carry handguns on campus.
“I would have stopped him,� Jeff Knox, director of operations for the Manassas-based group told Goddard. “Because when I went to school, I carried a gun. It was legal, I did it.�
Goddard responded quickly.
“I feel sorry for you - the fact that you feel you need to protect yourself in every situation,� the Virginia Tech senior said. “You’re afraid of crazy situations happening. I’ve lived through this and I know that I can’t continue in my life afraid of things. Things are gonna happen out of my control.
“There are people within our society who we deem capable and correct, our police forces who are supposed to protect us - and I put my full trust in them.�

and they were there fast enough to prevent you and everyone else there from getting shot or killed....Obviously NOT. I am sorry for what these ppl went thru but dear God.....WAKE UP PEOPLE. MANY lives would have been SAVED if students and/or teachers were legally armed.

I suppose I can understand why some people don't want to wear a helmet on a motorcycle, wear a seatbelt in a car, or have smoke detectors at home.
I don't understand why they want to prevent me from protecting myself.

Oh he'll get it alright. Get killed that is. I can't understand someone who has been through that level of stress and violence having the old "que sera sera" whatever will be will be attitude and not wanting to learn to fight for yourself. Sounds semi-suicidal to me.

Actually this student's feelings are very common for young, sheltered individuals. Maybe when he gets out into the world and finds out that things aren't fair he will see the light. He says that the situation was not in his control. If he had been armed he would have had a lot of control.

Doubtful IMO.
How much more of an abject lesson does a person need (shot four times)?

Someone get that young graduate a bucket of sand so he can carry it around with him and busy his head in the ground when trouble arrives!!!!!!!!

They sure did a good job of protecting him from getting shot the 5th time. With body guards like that I will pass.
