Austin area gun stores?

Hey all. My mom will be going to the Austin area this afternoon to visit my brother in the new town. Does anyone know of a good gun shop up there for him to take her to? They'll be in the North Austin area around Round Rock, Hutto, and Georgetown. I'd like them to go somewhere that has a good holster selection too. Preferably friendly and helpful with fitting. My mom has her CHL, and usually carries a Sig P232 in a Galco purse, but she's looking for some help getting a good belt holster. Needs help deciding on IWB, or OWB and finding a good model. I'm also sending her with money to pick me up an ankle holster for my Kel-Tec P3AT. Any suggestions on a good ankle holster model for that? Thanks.

I'm from the west side of town... more Cedar Park than Round Rock, but I have a few suggestions.
First - my favorite/home LGS is "The Gun Store" on 183 and Buttercup Creek in Cedar Park. Good selection of SD stuff although a bit light on holsters.

Second - If you like small LGS in RR, there is "Advanced Armaments" on Main St. in downtown RR. I think it is Main St.
<I don't have a link>
Third - Sportsman's Warehouse on I-35 at 1325 has a very good holster selection. Not as much of a small LGS feel, but pretty darn good for a big box retailer. I wouldn't suggest it to a novice, but it doesn't sound like that is the case here.

Thanks Kalrog! Gonna send them to Sportsmans Warehouse for sure. I really want that ankle holster! I'll have by brother check out the others. I love checking out the local stores. I'll have to go by when I go visit him later. Maybe I'll give you a shout when I go visit, and you, my brother and I can try to do a little shooting!

SW carries Galco products (or at least they did last time I was in there) and I can recommend their Galco Glove as a nice ankle holster.

About hooking up for a range session - just let me know! I usually head north and west for a range, but Red's in P-Ville isn't bad.

I thought of another one. GT Distributors at Brockton and Burnet

Great for LEOs especially.

McBride's Guns has a pretty decent selection of holsters. They mainly carry Galco, Bianchi, and Uncle Mike's. It is in North Austin, but probably not what most newcomers would consider "north". They are located at 30th Street and Lamar Blvd.
I don't know any places near Round Rock, except for maybe Red's Guns. I've only been there once, and it was to shoot. They do have a store, but I've never really browsed it or looked at their holster selection. The folks at Red's seem to be pretty friendly and helpful.

McBride's is south Austin... Downtown is at the Arboretum. Seriously, that is the population center of the Austin metro area.

I would second McBride's. They are very friendly and I've bought several handguns from them. They have some holsters in stock but I'm not sure if their selection is big enough to find what you like. I would also recommend Heritage Firearms, on Highway 183 North and Anderson Mill Road. They are a slightly smaller shop, but they are very friendly.
I need to check out the shops mentioned by Kalrog. They aren't too far from me (I live right between the Arboretum and the Domain). I also haven't visited Sportsman's Warehouse yet either. I guess since I'm mainly a guy who orders from the internet, I don't visit the local businesses as much as I should.

They are pretty good, but there is definitely a set of regulars who hold up most of the counter time. Friendly none the less though. I haven't been there in a while, but their holster selection was lacking when I was there. They did have some pretty good / inexpensive Galco belts though. And since that is what I was looking for at the time it worked out quite well.

I remember when 2222 and Lamar was considered far north Austin.
Just because it's far away from you folks living in "South Dallas", doesn't mean it's not central.
And there's plenty of population density south of the river, too:

Hey Tactical, is the ankle holster for your primary or your back-up...just curious.

Well, it started out as my BUG, but the Kel-Tec has worked its way into my primary carry due to work attire these days. I'm actually looking for a Rohrbaugh now. But it's currently my back up any time I can carry a full sized weapon, primary when I cant. The ankle holster would be for use when it's my BUG, or in church. When I carry it as primary, I carry strong side pocket in DeSantis Nemesis. The Rohrbaugh will fit the DeSantis just fine.
