Anyone hear or have any problems with putting a gun safe on the second floor of a house? I am thinking of one that can hold 24 or so rifles/shotguns. I am wanting to spend $800.00 or less.

A safe that big is going to weigh around 750 lbs. I'm not sure how you would get something like that up the stairs.

ONce it's up there, I would bet that it will cause your floor to sag over time unless you were able to put in extra bracing.

What about garages?

I have mine in a room added to the garage at the back. its about 1000# empty and has roughly 36 guns + ammo so it is real heavy now. Plus it is bolted to concrete. Good thing is it is easy to install and will be easier to move once unbolted and the door taken down. I installed before the doors went in for theft reasons. Only access to the room is from the main garage, no windows or exterior door.

If you get a good safe and some masonry anchors you can bolt the safe to the slab. Add some urban camoflage and an alarm and it sounds good. Down by the coast you probably want a goldenrod or other dehimidifier.
