Anyone ever get a firearm re-finished?

Well, I am ordering a 1911 very shortly and my wife has recently told me that she wants her own full-sized pistol as well. Theres just one problem...she wants it in pink! Now, I'm not a huge fan of pink, much less a weapon in pink...but what the wifey wants the wifey gets. (especially if my shooting/buying of firearms is to continue.)

Basically the layout of the weapon will be this, a Springfield loaded with the parkerized finish, the frame will be duracoat pink and all the small parts/pins and slide will be hardchromed. I have found a place in WI that will do the duracoat finish, but not the hardchrome, so my question is this...anyone know of someone that can do both finishes so I dont have to send it in to two different places?

Also, if anyone knows of a better finish than duracoat that could be done in pink, then please PM me.

I've seen a million 1911 grips, would that be enough pink? I also saw a pink framed polymer gun at Gander Mountain. I think it was a Taurus.

Check with Dan at Burwell Gunsmithing http://www.burwellgunsmithing.com/ Ask about his wife's M&P. He did a fabulous job on it. Here is a picture of it http://mp-pistol.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=10607

I would love it if my wife said she wanted her own gun-even if it was pink. Personally, I think the pink guns were a brilliant marketing idea.

Yea, she already has a .357 and a 380, but she wants a full sized 1911. I tried suggesting to her a 4-1/2" barreled 1911 but she got angry and told me she didnt need a smaller one.

I've decided to send it to Jims Gun Supply to get just the frame done in pink duracoat and Tripp Research to get the slide/barrel and all the small parts/pins hard chromed. Also gonna get her some slim white cobraskin grips from KYgrips.com. Should only take like 2 months and less than $400 to get it all done. Not really my cup of tea but the Wife is in love with the idea.

Only thing is, I think If i get the frame duracoated, but not the pins and parts then they may send it back dissasembled, so now I am gonna have to learn how to do a serious detail strip/reassemlbing of a 1911.
