Early reports I thought I heard the Mayor was killed...I may have been wrong there...Still, it is another example that even when there is protection in someplaces, you can, and will be surprised by a deranged and determined threat...

I personally do not see an upside or lesson learned here that could be applied to our lives...

Houston City Counsel meetings I have been at are fraught with egg throwing, screaming and cussing, yet no firearms being brought into play that I can recall...

One 'takeaway' that seems to have been overlooked is that one of the city council members fought back. He started throwing chairs, and anything else he could get his hands on, at the shooter. Fox News interviewed the guy last night, though I only caught a small part of it.

It seems that his actions might have provided chances for others to reach cover or escape.

So to me, the lesson learned is to fight back if possible, with whatever weapons you have or can improvise.

My opinion is that fighting back is the ONLY response that will help a person survive. "Let them have what they want, your ________ isn't worth your life!" is a policy that will ONLY encourage the perp to keep doing bad things.

Members of the press, law enforcement, non-governmental agencies who espouse cooperation over fighting back should be made to explain how cooperation aided the victims of Cho The Coward or the passengers of the three flights that hit buildings on 9/1/01.

Until they can tell how cooperation worked to the advantage of the victims in those instances they should SHUT UP like the clueless JERKS they are.
