We are seeing a rash of posts with abbreviated profanity. We have been editing the posts, but we are about to start deleting them instead. Please review the "official" rule on profanity.

Thanks,
Chas.

Just a suggestion - perhaps you should have a penalty box like in hockey. Someone breaks the rule they can't post for a week. They break it again perhaps it's a month. Third strike they're out.

Can't see why you or the other moderators have to waste your time correcting these folks mistakes. Just my 2¢ worth.

Hey if you can't follow the rules go somewhere else. The moderators have enough to do just to keep the site going. I don't want to see a few idiots mess up a good thing for the rest of us.
If you violate the rules you have to go home.

I just had to edit a lengthy post that obviously had a lot of thought put into it. It was not from a new member either.

I'm about to take your suggestion. We have over 2,700 members and only 133 of them have even read this reminder, so my inclination toward restraint is fading fast! If we don't want people using profanity, why on earth does anyone think it would be okay to get the message across by misspelling the word, abbreviating it, or using symbols in place of some letters.

This is my last polite request to stop.

Chas.

Anyway to set up the site where it automatically tracks who has read required posts? That way if someone tries to post, and they haven't yet been acknowledged as to having read critical messages, then they are blocked from posting until they do so.

Make that only 130. I read it three times.

And I have come by several times to check.

When I joined, there were some issues with the authorization email, so I had to be manually authorized.

Is there some way that a copy of the forum rules can be sent out when you get authorized? I've been a part of several forums, and there seems to be a tendency to overlook some of the stickied threads, even when they say FORUM RULES: PLEASE READ.

I, too, have been running up the read number without being a new set of eyes.

I just read this after being warned for a violation of this very rule. Some of the other boards I frequent do not have the same language restrictions, and I obviously got them confused. I sincerely apologize and will be more careful in the future.

One suggestion to the administrators - Perhaps there is a way make reminder posts such as this mandatory reading, so those of us who don't visit often will get an automatic update of the current issues at hand?

Respectfully,

Bullseye

Sir,
Though it is not Mandatory, all that is necessary is for you to first click on the forum rules & review them. That accomplishes the needed review on your part & does not add work to our load.
Respectfully

I agree with LT completly it is the responsibility of the user to read the rules and we as the user should not have to be reminded that we need to do so. It would be a whole lot simpler if everybody used the (as a wise friend said just the other day) 10 year old daughter rule. Would I want my child tro read or hear this. It is easer if we just please have a little courtesy for others.

Dad gave me a reminder about using profanity
when I was about 7 or 8 years old.
As I recall it was about 40 inches long and about
1.5 inches wide. I think it was brown.

Worked pretty well on me. :nono:
