I would like to share with those of you in the Austin area a brief conversation with the owner of Texas Star Meeting Event Center http://www.texasstarevents.com/
Brief background:
I will be attending an event that is taking place there in a few weeks which will likely max the occupancy for the venue. Being that I carry everyday everywhere I can, I was hesitant about this place just because of my unfamiliarity with Austin's venues. I first looked on their website which did not have anything remotely forbidding it. I then checked Texas3006.com with no luck. Finally, I sucked it up and just called them.
Here is my best recollection of the conversation:
TexasStar: Hello Texas Star....may I help you?
Me: (in my best, positive, light hearted, professional voice said: "Hi, I will be attending an event in the next couple of weeks at your venue and I was wondering if Texas Star allows persons who have obtained a Concealed Handgun License through the Department of Public Safety/State to carry on your premises (it doesn't hurt to throw that extra info in to frame the authority from which we are obtaining it)?
TexasStar: Hmm, just one second and I will let you speak to the owner.
(15 seconds later)
Texas Star Owner: Hi this is Angela may I help you?
Me: (just repeating my previous statement above)
Texas Star Owner: (no hesitation) Oh sure, yes, that's no problem at all that you carry with your CHL.
Me: Great! I looked on your website under policies and just wanted to make sure that I was respecting your rules.
Texas Star Owner: Well thank you so much for doing that! No, we have no problem with it.
So, I'm thinking now once the event is over, I will send this person a note of thanks and mention that I will pass on the positive reception to others who may need a friendly place to host an even such as a reception, forum group meeting
, etc...
