A Wish

Since this is an idea for a video I wish I could buy rather than a review of an existing product then the thread doesn't belong in the Book & Video category.

Up this late at night a lot of the TV dial is taken up with paid programming. As I made my way over to change channels I thought "why aren't there 'infomercials' about concealed carry?"

I don't mean something all that professional in script, actors or production values. I'm thinking of something that could be posted to YouTube or LiveLeak that was pro-CHL, entertaining and educational. Not too preachy. Not for the first one, anyway.

Further thoughts had to do with the use of video to illustrate key points in CHL instruction.

I know that there are videos for the instructors. I'm considering the wider audience and imagining it done on the level of "Blogs 4 Borders". Not expensive but bullet-proof as to facts.

I've sat through official NRA instructional video and despite the acting, direction, props, production values and video quality it was BORING.

To win the war of truth we need to be not only more truthful but also more entertaining than our foe.

So far the stuff produced by Bruce Montague comes the closest to what I have in mind and his is mostly aimed at the Canadian audience.

There's nothing a Canadian can do that a Texan can't do better! :txflag: (Well, maybe hockey.)

Check out Personal Defense TV. It's on the Outdoor channel, on Wednesdays.

I've watched that quite a bit but it's not what I had in mind.

Being sponsor supported it tends to be heavy on promoting certain platforms more than others.

It also tends to try to cram too much into too little time.

The video I'm imagining isn't "how to shoot bad guys". It is "These are your friends and neighbors and they carry. Don't you want to carry too?"

The public at large are ignorant of the laws we are under. They are hit with LIES from the major media outlets every day.

We won't get reporters and TV people to tell the truth so we have to do it ourselves and doing so by "viral video" is likely to be less man-hour intensive than one-on-one with people you meet.

Yes, I'm happy that I'm about to convert a co-worker from non-gun owner to CHL trained gun-owner. I just think we'd be better able to get our side told this way.

The simple answer as to why such a video has not been made is that no one with the money to do so has done it. Quality video costs tens of thousands of dollars per hour. The infomercials for stuff like exercise equipment are produced and broadcast because sellers hope to earn a profit from them (and they generally do).

Only the NRA has the bucks to make this kind of video. I don't know why they have chosen not to. They used to put commercials on TV with the tag line, "I'm the NRA and I vote." I haven't seen one for probably 30 years.
