Obama was here in San Marcos last night and my GF wanted me to join her at the "rally". I looked at her and asked, "Are you serious?", so she was like, "Oh, i forgot".
I showed her Obama's record on gun control for the 2nd time and told her that there was no way i was going to go listen to him when i could play World Of Warcraft instead :)
So she and a friend went and i could actally hear the darn rally all the way to my apartment (san marcos isnt a big city).
Anyway, she got back and told me he was good and had many good ideas, and that i should have gone. I told her that many people vote for what they beleive is an important issue to them. Some the War, others Social Security, etc etc. I told her that the 2nd Amendment/gun rights was mine and there was NO WAY i could give Obama my time.
She undertands.
Anyway, i recieved this info from the local Chamber:
Attendees are asked to park at the Bobcat Village commuter parking and the front lot of Bobcat Stadium and take a free shuttle to Sewell Park.
Other information to note:
l Leave purses, bags and backpacks at home. Participants will be screened through metal detectors and any bags will be searched, slowing access to the event
l No weapons of any kind are allowed, including knives or pepper spray
l No lawn chairs are allowed
l Cameras and cell phones are allowed.
I just wanted to ask under what law do they restrict a CHL holder from carrying on a public park just cuz a politician is speaking there?
Take care all
Edit: I passed over this part of my email:
The rally will be held at Sewell Park on the Texas State campus with the program starting at 9 p.m.
However, im pretty sure that our CHL's allow us to carry while on school "grounds" just not in "buildings"
I can understand it being Obama's event/program/party and having his own rules regarding who gets in, but can someone do that on property owned by the university? Or maybe these are University's rules for the event, but then again, is this considered a "school event"?
If this was a school sponsored event, i would guess that about would do it for CHL holders.
I have too many questions, lol.

I think this guy is a Marxist who also happens to be a very charming & charismatic con man.
He is good at hiding his true nature for as long as it's convenient. His voice is very smooth and he can talk a LONG time without saying anything and get everyone excited. That makes me very nervous, that people can get so emotionally committed and not have the foggiest idea where they are going.
When you have the support of the mainstream media, who talk much and say little, maybe it's not so difficult after all.
Obama Deceived Debate Viewers on NAFTA Plans, Canada TV Says

(CNSNews.com) - Did Sen. Barack Obama say one thing privately to the Canadian government about NAFTA -- and something very different during Tuesday night's debate? The answer is yes, according to CTV, a Canadian television network.
The network reported Wednesday night that a "senior member" of the Obama campaign called Michael Wilson, the Canadian ambassador to the U.S., "within the last month," warning Wilson that Obama would "take some heavy swings" at the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as part of his campaign.
Obama insider reportedly told the ambassador, "Don't worry -- it's just campaign rhetoric, it's not serious," CTV reported.
CTV reported that the Obama campaign's message to Wilson was taken as "completely authentic" by the Canadian government.
At Tuesday's debate in Cleveland, Sen. Hillary Clinton said that as president she would opt out of the North American Free Trade Agreement in six months, if she couldn't renegotiate the agreement with Canada and Mexico to her satisfaction.
"I will make sure we renegotiate," Obama agreed. "I think we should use the hammer of a potential opt-out as leverage to ensure that we actually get labor and environmental standards that are enforced."
Democrats count labor unions among their biggest supporters, and labor unions blame NAFTA for eliminating jobs.
On Wednesday, Canada's Trade Minister David Emerson said NAFTA is at risk, given Clinton and Obama's threats to end it, the Bloomberg News Service reported.
"The rhetoric of protectionism has been creeping up and getting more strident," Emerson was quoted as saying. "It's not just the heat of the presidential campaign," he said -- there's a grassroots movement against it as well.
Emerson said Mexico, Canada and the United States all benefit from the 1994 trade deal, which was negotiated by the Clinton administration. "The dismantling of trade barriers and the opening of markets has led to economic growth and rising prosperity in all three countries," the U.S. Commerce Department says on its Web site.
Canada is the USA's biggest trading partner.
Bloomberg also quoted Finance Minister Jim Flaherty as saying that it will be "very important" for the eventual U.S. presidential nominee to talk with "those who are very knowledgeable about" NAFTA.
Obama has not directly responded to questions about his differing private and public stands on NAFTA. A spokesperson for the Obama campaign told CTV that the Obama staffer's conversation with Ambassador Wilson sounded implausible. But the spokesperson did not deny that the Obama campaign had contacted Wilson.
"Senator Obama does not make promises he doesn't intend to keep," the spokesperson told CTV.

Thanks for the info FM :)
And Russell, since im sure my GF will read this, lol, all i can say is that i Love her and that she loves shooting with me.
Gun rights just arent that big of a deal breaker for her when it comes to Obama.
We disagree on alot of things, some of her choices in music irritate me, Shes liberal, im more conservative, etc. But we take care of each other and respect each others likes and dislikes.
I told her that If one day shes is unable to obtain a CHL or go shooting anymore that its ALL HER FAULT, lol.

i'm so sick of hearing people rave about obama. i've had more than a few people tell me that they are now "obamacans". they usually have no idea what his stance is on ANY issues. they just like his personality. i love the look on my gun friendly "obamacans" faces when i tell them his thoughts on concealed carry and assault weapons.
he really reminds me of eddie murphy in The Distinguished Gentleman.

In reference to Obama...

He reminds me of a TV evangelist the way he manipulates the crowds. If you listen to his speeches, he uses voice inflection and pauses to work his crowd into a frenzy. Very Kennedy-esque, very Matrin Luther King, Jr.-ish...and the crowds love it.
I think even Hillary sees him this way. Anyone catch her comments where she compared the Obama campaign to a "church-like" experience with choirs, etc.? She's toast and she's powerless to do anything about it because people are drinking the Kool-aid.

I like what Kim du Toit calls him: Obama-rama-ding-dong.
My Dad refers to him as The Obama-nable Snow-you Man.

The guy does have the gift of gab, :P
You know, if he was pro gun/2nd amendment as you and i, he wouldnt be half bad.
It really doesnt matter if it goes to McCain or Obama right now. I'm hoping for a Congress that will keep either of them in check.
