Sig P226 Question...

Picked up a Sig P226 9mm today for reasonable--very clean. The only gripe I have, or might have, is that the owner had removed the original Factory grips and replaced them with thick Hogue grips. He told me he lost the original grips!? The prev owner told me he did it because he had big hands. That really did not bother me, becasue I have big meat hooks myself. The only thing that troubles me is the grips sort of interferes with the decock lever coming back into position---plus, I really want to feel what standard factory grips feel like before I make my choice--Does anybody out there have big mitts and can tell me what standard grips feel like on the 226??

The only other thing besides changing the grips back will be installing some night sights. I have a few holsters, IWB and OWB that will fit her perfectly.

Stay Safe. :txflag:

The factory grips are pretty slim. I have the opposite problem, bought a set of Sig factory walnut grips, but they are simply too big for my hands. I initially wanted to get Hogue grips for them, but again too big for my hands. I'd say there's a significant difference - you can probably get your hands on factory grips at a reasonable price (try sigforum.com classifieds)

The Hogue grips should not interfere with the decocker if they are properly installed. However there could be some excess rubber flash, from the moulding process, on the backside of the grips. Take them off, cleanup the backside if needed and put them back on. You should be able to get them on so they won't interfere with the decocker. I like the stock grips better on my P229.

I've found that buying anything directly from Sig means paying the highest possible price. Top Gun Supply has them for 15.95...That's where I bought my 229 grips. http://topgunsupply.com/SIG-GRIPS-FACTORY-c-38.html
