I've been sick with the flu since last Wednesday. Now, my wife has it too. Anyone else in Houston had the flu lately? Just wondering how long it will last?

Hopefully it's a different strain that what The Wife and I got back right before Christmas. That crud hung on to us through the end of January.

I got something called the Brisband Flu, from, of all places, Brisbane, Australia. Go figure. The worst of it lasted weeks, and I'm still getting little relapses, even now. Dr. says that it can stay on for months. Right now, my head, throat and ears hurt and ears are "full" feeling. Hope you both escape that flu and get better really soon. You both are in my prayers, as I know how not fun this is! :frown5: :ack:

It's been making the rounds at work since Christmas. I got a flu shot, but I guess I got the strain that wasn't covered. At it's worst - was about a week and then another 2 or 3 weeks to feel A LOT better! This one seemed to be worse than usual and unfortuantely the strain wasn't covered by the flu shot that was dispensed this year.

I hope you recover and feel better soon!

No more fever for me! Wife is still pretty sick....Thanks for all the input. I think I might start getting a flu shot every year- even though my wife got one this year but the strain we have was not covered by that vaccine.

Mrs. Anygun had it Christmas and I had it over New Year's. We did not have the shot and it would not have protected us since the strain we had was not in the shot.

The flu is awful. I always expect to see my toenails come up as I am wretching over the porcelain fixture.

We did manage to get some anti-viral stuff and other drugs that minimized the effects. I have been hospitalized with the flu while travelling. Dehydration.

Remember, better living through chemistry.

My doc said it lasts about 10 days. Since we can talk off-topic, I suggest everyone keep a dose pack of tami-flu at home. It has a 5 year shelf life.
