Three teenagers are in custody after a Tuesday night incident that killed a friend.

It happened in the 12500 block of JFK Boulevard.

The teenagers are students at Cypress Creek High School.

The Sheriff’s Department said the teens weren’t fighting or in any trouble, but they were playing with a gun that at least one of the teens thought was empty.

The three teens were inside of this truck when the shooting happened Tuesday night.

All of the teenagers were hanging out inside a pick-up truck at an apartment complex just before 10 p.m.

A 15-year-old was in the backseat. A 16-year-old had the gun and put it to his head, pulled the trigger – and nothing happened, officials said.

For a moment, it looked like the gun was unloaded.

But then the same 16-year-old pointed the gun at the 15-year-old, pulled the trigger a second time and it fired, killing the teen.

The teen who pulled the trigger has been charged with manslaughter.

Then one of the teens threw the gun out a window, into a nearby field.

The sheriff’s office found the gun and the teens sitting in the truck. One of the teens had called authorities when the teenager died.

The boy who pulled the trigger is in custody, and both teens are being questioned Wednesday morning.

Hate to hear that. Schools should teach the 4 rules of gun safety in Pre-K.

I think it should be a class everyone should have to take in Pre-k.

I heard a last minute update, was that the shooter was going to be charged with manslaughter...

Accident or not, it never ceases to amaze me how some people get their hands on a "gun", and then feel like its cool to whip it out and "play" with it...

Much less that during that time of play, they "point" the thing at someone and pull the trigger...

"I thought it was not loaded?" (Is what we hear EVERY time...)
