I just watched a clip on abc news where new york has outlawed gun paint by a company that sells a lot of different colors saying the colored guns can be confused for toy guns and endanger police officers

Yup.........
I tend to agree that this is foolish and dangerous to Police Officers or anyone else that one of these is pulled on.
But I CANNOT say this in public as I refuse to go along with anything that has to do with New Yuk!
My opinion on the whole subject is that if anyone pulls a gun on a LEO, Real or Not, they have signed their death warrant........
It only gets more confusing for CHL and I cringe at what the Courts would decide if a CHL shoots someone that had a Toy Gun.

Anything can be used incorrectly, stupidly or illegally.
Criminals use automobiles, cellphones, and firearms illegally.
Stupid people use bikes, boats and motorcycles for stupid stunts and get hurt or killed.
People misuse power tools in ways that leave them maimed.
Is this a reason to ban them?
Yes, you could make a purple gun look like a toy.
You can also make a gun alert orange so you can find it in the woods.
You can also camouflage your turkey gun to make for a successful hunt.
I am very much against banning things just because they can be misused.
As someone already pointed out, if you point even a toy gun at a cop you have placed yourself in the running for a Darwin award.

That's the company, but i agree that any LEO has to assume when a gun is pointed at him it is real,I read somewhere awhile back that BG's were painting the tips of their guns orange to make cops think they were toys, neverassume nuttin

that disguises deadly firearms with bright paints and camouflage
Obviously there is no slant here....
I can see both sides of the argument but just like with everything else, just because something can be mis-used doesn't mean that it should be allowed to outright ban it.

If a lady wants it in pink she should have it in pink. Discussions with women about color form or fashion are never won by us guys.

I built this for my wife. It's a range gun and not a carry gun.

I simply can't agree that it should be illegal to paint anything you own any color you want.
Just another move from NY to add more gun control.

My wife saw this gun. Now she wents it. What brand is the weapon and who did the paint?

Appears to be a Ruger .22LR 22/45 Mark II. The way the barrel comes entirely off the synthetic lower would make it a natural for paint.

Yep it's Ruger 22/45, I used duracoat and a small hello kitty charm. The wife loves it.
