Was reading an article in the El Paso Times this morning that indicated that some Juarez, Mexico LEO's have to turn in their gun at the end of the shift because the Dept. does not have enough of them. The article did indicate that the Dept. is going to get "more and better firearms" sometimes down the road.

There have been three LEO's slain in Juarez in the last week although having/not having a firearm probably would not have made any difference.

There was a border town last week that 2 deputy's quit and the Sheriff was alone and fled into the U.S. seeking asylum saying if he stayed n Mexico he would be targeted by drug gangs for death

I remember reading that duk - It was in New Mexico. The Mexican town was Palomas I think - can't remember the town on the American side.

The police in Palomas and Juarez don't have to worry. A U.S. aid package for Mexican law enforcement is headed their way.
