Is it just me, or does the new Ruger LCP seem like a direct copy (or rip off) of the Keltec 380. Slightly heavier (9.4 oz vs 8.3 oz), slightly wider (.82" vs .77"), less eespensive, slightly longer barrel (2.75" vs 2.40"), but still almost an exact copy. Same number of rounds and it look slike ir does not have a slide lock, just like the Keltec. I have a Keltec that I call my golf, church and run gun. I like it quite a but, it is not all that accurate, probably due to the minimual sights. Becasue of this I consider it an eye socket or ear canal gun. The Ruger MSRP is $40 less than Keltec and Ruger has a pretty good warranty, if you haven't modified the piece in ANY way. Any thoughts?

I'm considering getting one but am looking for an opportunity to shoot one first. Will be going to Bullet Trap this Friday. Will see if they have a rental yet. If so, I'll let you know my impressions.

At forty dollars less for the same gun, the LCP is going to kill the Kel Tec .380. But, there is no Ruger .32 ACP. A .32 is the ultimate hideout gun on account of it's diminutive size. The .32 ACP is probably responsible for more intentional killings yearly than any other handgun round.

I'm thinking about trading my P3AT in on one.

The LCP does have a slide lock, but it is only a manual lock. The slide does not lock back on an empty magazine.

I am told the LCP has a shorter trigger reset than the P-3AT. Unfortunately I haven't run across a copy to examine myself. If it is slightly bigger than the P-3AT, then I s'pose the P-3AT holsters will not fit it, which is a pity.

I just bought a Ruger LCP yesteday. Today, I shot it and my Kel-Tek 380 50 rounds each. The Ruger felt a little better in my hand. Out of 50 rounds, the kel-tek jammed once. The ruger jammed 4 times. The Ruger also has a noticably heavier trigger pull than the kel-tec. The ammo that I used was Winchester 95gr fmj 100 rd value pack. I was pretty disappointed! Any jams are unacceptable for a carry gun that my or a family members life may be depending on! I am going to thoroughly clean both guns and buy a couple different kinds of ammo and try it again.

I haven't heard anything further from him.

From people who own and disassemble both, my impression is that the LCP is a substantial internal clone of the P-3AT.

I could rant about people's guns jamming first trip to the range, but will refrain.

what about break-in for the lcp?

I concede that the P-3AT might have the advantage of being broken in.

I passed on a report I was sent and identified it as anecdotal.

But it's enough that I decided to wait awhile for more feedback before buying an LCP.
