Sig Sauer 1911 XO Stainless 45acp

I'm in the market (gonna' git) a mid-range 1911. I'm leaning toward either a Taurus PT 1911 or the above Sig.
Anybody out there have any experience with the Sig 1911 XO? I have a Sig p-230 and it's just swell

for what it does.
Thanks,

Thanks, Mike.
That takes care of the FFL question. I'd really like to know of someone's experience with the current Sig 1945 XO.

I've owned one for about year. The slide is wider and heavier than most 1911's, which helps with recoil but will require you to stretch a leather holster more than you might expect. Some complain about the esthetic's of the external extractor, but my pistol has performed well without any problems which is more important in my opinion. Good trigger, reliable out of the box. I like the fact you can field strip it without any special tools as it doesn't use a full length guide rod. It's still extremely accurate (more so than a recent Kimber I owned briefly). The pistol got some bad press when it was first introduced, but from everything I have read Sig seems to have gotten the bugs worked out some time ago (be sure and get the newer model without the manhole cover on the right side of the slide... it was designed to hold the extractor and was linked to many of the problems suffered by early adopters. I actually held the Taurus 1911 and the Sig side by side when I purchased the Sig (I was considering the same two at the time), and bought the Sig. Tighter fit, better trigger, and just felt better. If you're in Houston and want to try before you buy, I'll even let you borrow it if you pick up the range fees.

philbo,
That's mighty decent of you to offer a trial

and I appreciate your comments

.
I don't have any plans to be in Houston anytime soon but thanks anyway.

It places your bid near the end of the scheduled endtime to give you a competative advantage, similar to eBay. It is currently available for free.

I owned a
Sig GSR Carry Stainless 1911 for a while. Perhaps others have had good experiences with theirs. I did not. I just never could get the thing to work right. It was very accurate, but extremely unreliable. I finally got rid of it by trading it in on the 3" Kimber that is my daily carry piece now.
It sure was a pretty pistol though.
