Public crowds.

I could have sworn I heard something in my CHL class about a licensee being prohibited from carrying in a public crowd such as that which gathers at a New Year's celebration downtown. I can't find anything about it in my little law handbook or on this forum. I must have just dreamt it up or something. Could someone just verify that I am going nuts, because I don't know where the heck I got this from!

Not in Texas. Many states prohibit carrying weapons at public assemblies.

We did have a prohibition against carrying at meetings of government bodies (city council, etc.) but for the last couple of years they have been required to post 30.06 signs if they want to prohibit carry by CHLs.

Ok. Very good. I asked my wife about it, and she doesn't remember me mentioning anything about it either. I must be going bonkers. :willynilly:

If you are reading other message boards, you will see lots of local laws, obsolete laws, and urban legends posted as if they were laws of nature.

Some of the more common ones are that you can't carry anywhere alcohol is sold, can't carry more than one weapon, can't carry hollowpoint ammunition, can't carry in any place that charges admission, must have your weapon visible while in a vehicle (some of these are true in some states).

Georgia I think. There may be more but I think GA is where they can’t carry at any public gatherings. There trying to get it changed or just did. It isn’t Texas anyway.
