Jareds jewelers in Hurst now posted 30.06

I took my wife's wedding set in for it's annual inspection/check-up today and was pretty disgusted when I saw the entrance. A legal 30.06 sign. We've been using this store for 10 years, now we're going to go somewhere else. A friend of my wife works there and has always given us great service. I'll go ahead and send the whole no-guns = no money emails, but I doubt they'll reach anyone that cares. :mad5

Greetings--

A couple of years back, we stopped at the Jared's off FM 1960/Deerbrook Mall area in HOU. They had a 51% sign on the door !! :thumbs2: Their signage also contained part of the 30.06 wording.

Where in the world do these corporate lawyer-types get this stuff from ??? :confused5

Suprisingly, I got a fairly quick response. Not surprisingly, it's the typical sheeple speak.
Dear Mr. Miller,

Thank you for the quick reply. I will make sure that everyone I know is aware that if they choose to come to your store, that their safety rests in the hands of a total stranger standing by the door sending text messages on his cell phone.

There are plenty of jewelers that do not infringe on my legal rights. One of them will be getting my future business.

Regards,
Gary Jones

I do all my jewelry shopping at Cash America. ONe just has to learn the difference between a real stone and a "grown" stone.

First of all, I've seen their security guards and "trained" is not what I would call them. A few months back I stopped in to pick up a watch link and the guard’s retention strap on his holster appeared to be broken and his belt was so loose that his pistol was about to fall out.

After running a couple of jewelry stores for a few years I can tell you that's one place I definitely prefer to be armed.

That second sentence above sounds pretty aggressive for the "Customer Relations Department".

Now all the BG's know that anyone leaving that Jareds with newly purchased goods is a soft target. :banghead:

I have been to your stores and the inept minimum wage guards are hardly sufficient for protection. I am ex-military, licensed and trained by the State and Federal government to carry a firearm. Since you will force me to rely on minimally trained security in a high profile target store, I will take my business elsewhere until my rights are no longer infringed. You have the right to bar entry, I have the right to spend elsewhere. You have, in your ignorance and fear, created a dangerous and unsafe environment where criminals now know that customers are not armed.

PS - Your original email above has been posted on multiple web sites and word will get out.

For me the larger point is this:

I will not do business with Jared because of their obnoxious commercials, and because corporate/franchise jewelers are always a bad value.

Local jewelers, usually one man operations, are a much better value.

Gary - maybe you don't know, one of your fellow CrossTimbers IDPA shooters is a jeweler.

Greg Bullard is at Western Center at Beach Street, in the Albertson's center. My daughter and her husband bought their wedding rings from him. Great guy, fair prices and good service.

That's interesting to me. I didn't know he was into IDPA. His son, also Greg, used to work for me. His son is a very straightforward guy and I would expect the same from his father based on what I know of him.

Hehe, good thing I shop online. In the comfort of my own home, and not 30.06 posted. ;-)
