I am looking to get a full size glock 20 10mm. I have never owned a C model glock and I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with the muzzle blast causing night blindness? I read something to that effect in an article about 10 years ago when they first came out, but was looking for real life answers, not some advertising based magazine.

Does anyone here with a 10mm glock feel that the comp is worth the muzzle blast and price increase (50ish $)?

Retention shots with a "C" gun (especially that 10MM cannon) could burn you. I would not want to shoot that baby at the gas station!

I can't honestly speak about the 10MM and recoil. I have shot a 20 and 29, but they were not compensated. The recoil really isn't that bad.

I can't speak for 10mm, but I have a 17C 9mm and it does throw pretty big flames out of the ports. I will say that follow up shots are mutch easier, but the gun gets dirty so much faster. Overall a great piece, the ports would be alot more usefull in 10mm vs my 9mm. What are you using it for? Carry, probalby not a good choice, but in IDPA that would be great.

I considered buying the compensated model but decided not to. The issues I have seen with them are not so much flash related because they have low flash powders in most self defense ammo but consider the consequences if you ever had to fire it close to your body say just after clearing the holster in a close quarters defense situation. The hot gasses coming out of the ports could burn you pretty badly.

Also, they tend to get dirtier quicker and cloud the front sight considerably. When I weighed the pros vs the cons the compensated model was not the right decision for me. YMMV.

The recoil is not as bad as some people would make it out to be.

I want to get into IDPA, still looking at the clubs in the area to see which one is best for me (Garland). After watching the light/laser invitational that Smith and Wesson put on, I was thinking about getting a 3rd gen glock to have a rail and might as well get a 10mm since I already have a 9mm.

I have a glock 17 2nd gen that I can conceal at pancreas until I loose more weight then it will stick out on me. Thinking about getting the compact or sub compact 10mm for daily CCW.

FYI, in IDPA, compensators of any type--including ported barrels--are not allowed in any division. Compensators are allowed in some USPSA divisions.

I wouldn't worry about the ports burning you. I have a few ported pistols and have shot them from the hip multiple times. Can you feel something hit you? Yes. Does it hurt at all? No.

Interesting... if you droped in a non comp barrel would the slide cuts still count against you?

I believe that it can be used if you purchase a solid barrel. I bet they make up for the weight somewhere else on the gun....I have never compared.

I have a 1911 (it looks good in my safe) that is compensated. A friend put in a solid barrel, but I have yet to compete with it. I tried to practice with it a few times and shredded my hands after shooting a Glock so much. I will take it out and shoot a match one of these days.......

Nah, I have seen Chas shoot his....well. I have a few sunrises before I wake up his age

I carried a 22C for a duty weapon for about 5 years. I never did have a problem with the flash. The only time I had a problem with the gasses was shooting on an indoor range where the two barricades on each side kind of blow it back at you. Even then, it was just the pressure and not any burn or anything.

I like the C model Glocks for police duty and recommend it be considered by TABC for our next pistol.

Important note is that I have never tried the 10mm version and the power of the round might make a difference.
