I asked this a year or so ago, but again, I am still a little unsure. Here is the same question with more detail.

I just did a background check on myself and need a little clarification as to when I am eligible to qualify and apply for my CHL.

This all happened back in 2000, however it did not goto grand jury until 2000.

Here is the timeline:

05/23/2002 - Final Disposition - Grand Jury reduces to Misdemeanor ( Agg. Assault Felony to Terroristic Threat - misdemeanor B )

08/26/2003 - Final Disposition - Non-Adjudication of guilt ( Agreed Plea )

03/02/2004 - Final Disposition - No Finding of Guilt ( Dismissed Type )

Am i eligible after August 26th, March 2nd, or now since it was dismissed not guilty?

At our last instructor renewal school, the legal beagle emphazied that these types of questions should be directed to and answered only by DPS.

Unfortunately, getting someone to even answer the phone seems to take forever these days. If you do get to speak with someone, be sure to get their full name and take good notes.

However, in the spirit of "If it ain't written down, it never happened.", I'd suggest sending an e-mail to DPS, including what you did here. If no response within a week or so, follow-up with certified letter/return receipt - and include copies of the referenced court documents.

Yea, sadly, it's a hassle. But better to learn early "from the horse's mouth". Unless ya wanna risk the time and money ...
